Black Death Muslim and Christian Responses
Imagine yourself alone on a street corner, coughing up bloody mucous each time you exhale. You are gasping for a full breath of air, but realizing that is not possible, you give up your fight to stay alive. Youre thinking why is this happening to me? That is how the victims of the Black Death felt. In five short years, the plague killed between 25 and 45% of the populations it encountered. So how different were the Christian and Muslim responses? In 1348 Christians who were followers of Jesus Christ and Muslims who followed the teachings of Muhammad came face to face with the Black Death. In truth, Muslims and Christians responded in many different ways. Even the way the blamed others for the cause of the plague and religious views about the disease were very much different. In a similar manner both religions acted completely out the norm, they basically set aside their spiritual beliefs for a moment. One of the similar responses between the Muslims and Christians were acting out of the ordinary. According to document five both religions were finding non-religious alternatives to prevent the Black Death. In some cases, the Christians would try to sleeping on their backs to prevent the plague, while the Muslims would even avoid going outside. In addition they both drank a solution of Armenian clay to cleanse the body and built fires hoping that this would purify the contaminated air. Based on document nine both the religions united together to pray and they went back to their religious ways. These documents prove that each religion in some cases stepped out their religious backgrounds to try to prevent the Black Death. Religious views played a big part on the different ways the Christians and Muslims responded to the Black Death. The Christians basically thought the plague was their fault. They believe that theyââ¬â¢re being punished for their sins theyââ¬â¢ve imputed against God. On the other hand the Muslims are taking the plague lightly. They believe that ââ¬Å"a Muslim should devoutly accept the divine act. The Muslims also believe that this occurrence is a blessing from God. In addition document two explains the Black Death Mortality by comparing each religions death rate. The mortality estimate Phillip Ziegler calculated for the Muslims shows that about 33% of the Middle Eastern population have deceased. While the Christian population in Europe mortality rate was only 31%. This document proves that the Muslims population decreased greater than the Christians. During the era of the Black Plague, the Christian community held a lood-thirsty lead hand in the fact of the matter, while the Islam society didnââ¬â¢t blame the epidemic on others and or try to solve the rampant disease with violence. According to document seven the Christians blamed the Jews for causing the Black Death; they believe the Jews poisoned the wells. The Muslims didnââ¬â¢t blame anyone for the occurrence of the Black Death, based on document ten. This proves that the Muslims believed that the plague was meant to happen, like document four said, ââ¬Å"the plague is a blessing from God. ââ¬

Concert Report Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Concert Report - Essay Example My accompanying friend, Chris, gets a wristband verifying that he is older than 21. Near the stage where Athletes helpers are setting up the stage with all of their instruments and power chords, a group of police officers nearby are regulating many college students to make sure they have their IDs for alcoholic beverages and to prevent any theft of sales merchandise at the concert. After we pass the security guards, we head up the ramps to our section of seats. As we are walking, I notice many different people that are present at this concert. Most people look like they are between their teen years and their late twenties. Walking along the hallway, the population seems like there are only few groups of people, but as I enter into the stadium for the first time, there seems to be hundreds upon hundreds of people. I look around the entire arena in awe as we climb the stairs to our seats. Suddenly, the lights turn off, spotlights flash, and a loud applause arises from Athletes fans right near the stage. A wall of sound comes closer and closer, thundering up towards the front. Some band mates come out from backstage, and the whole crowd stands up, yelling, screaming, and hollering. All of the cheers seem almost deafening. I start screaming at the top of my lungs, jumping up and down, with a huge smile on my face. Although the main concert is geared towards Athlete, another alternative music group that is attempting to make it big in the music industry starts the night off with a few punk rock songs. Although their style and energy is strong, they did get a few boos from the audience because they sounded and looked like outsiders compared to the famous Athlete band. Athletes band members emphasize that their lyrics reflect openness and honesty about themselves and real life experiences. Along with the lyrics, they say their songs are about enjoying

Why Is It Said That Packet Switching Employs Statistical Multiplexing Essay
Why Is It Said That Packet Switching Employs Statistical Multiplexing - Essay Example This research will begin with the statement that multiplexing refers to a resource that is shared among many users and they are of two types;à The Time Division multiplexing where periodically only one user gains full capacity control at a time (TDM) and the Frequency Division Multiplex (FDM) where all users get exclusive control of the link capacity. Packet switched networks entails small units of packets being routed through a network. It is footed on the target address enclosed in each packet allowing the same trail to be shared among many consumers in the network. Thus, in this type of network, packets do not follow any pre-defined pattern as it is transmitted from different sources. From the above information, it is true that Packet switching uses statistical multiplex where data packets are transmitted to many users by a single source link. Statistical multiplexer utilizes statistical knowledge of the system and the users hence assuring the quality of service rendered. à T herefore, multiplexing is the process of transmitting different data packets simultaneously by combining the signals into a single signal that ably moves through a bandwidth. Later when the signal arrives at its destination it re-assimilates into its normal form and the user receives it. The accurate pattern of the multiplexing course relies heavily on the nature of transmission For example when transmitting analog the signals are multiplexed using the frequency based multiplexing where the bandwidth is alienated into subchannels, thus allowing them to flow in an analogous manner.... Its design is founded on Rate and Distortion(R-D) (Watkinson, 2008, p. 52)information hauled out from consecutive planned frames. The model considers inter-frame dependencies unambiguous to the implication of encoding limitations of a specific frame over the consecutive one. Describe how a botnet can be created and how it can be used for a DDoS attack Botnet is also known as Zombie army. They consist of large numbers of infected computers mainly by the Trojan that habitually opens the Internet Ray Chat (IRC). It simply refers to (Sun, 2007, p. 65) an organized robotic army of zombies that are used for creating a denial of service attacks (DDoS), as well as permitting spam actions in the inbox and dispersing viruses (Schiller, 2007, p. 30). Zombies are linked to the internet and thus they are used to execute wicked tasks under distant directions. Botnets has four components namely 1) Diagnosing the computer with wicked codes. 2) Connection to the command and control channel assembled by the attacker.3) Downloads secondary payload on command of the attacker and 4) Performing a wicked activity When creating a botnet one needs an access to several computers, high speed internet contact, a configuring window networking a server virtualization, installed version of c + + + 6.0 as well as a Servicer pack 6 for visual c + + + and PSDK- x86 and lastly the xBot code. Basically, botnets are created through a worm program that is normally transmitted through a spam, spyware and other adware campaigns that leaves some files behind (Watkinson, 2008, p. 76). After installing the visual C+++ 6.0, the service pack 6 and the PSDK ââ¬âx86 one goes ahead to compile and configure xBot. This is done by clicking on file open workspace of the visual c+ + + 6.0 and loading the

The Strategic Context of Projects Research Paper
The Strategic Context of Projects - Research Paper Example First, the project team must resolve schedule issue. The team must resolve when each phase of the entire project will be started. The same team should also determine when each phase of the project should stop. The team must decide which schedule should go first. Second, the project team, through its leader or manager, must resolve priorities issue. The project team should decide who will make the priority list. The same project team must decide which portion of the each phase should go first. The same project team must decide with which part of each phase must begin. The same team will decide which portion of each phase will start next. The project team will determine which portion of the entire phase will have third priority each phase of the entire project. Third, the project team, through its leader or manager, must resolve resources issue. The project team leader will decide which resources will be uses in each phase of the entire project. The same project team leader will decide which sources should not be included in the entire project. The project team leader will decide on the quality of the resources used during the entire project. Fourth, the project team, through its leader or manager, must resolve technical beliefs issue. ... Further, step two of the technical beliefs issue focuses on forcing the employees to implement the project team managerââ¬â¢s decisions. The manager must implement the best alternative in resolving the prior problem solving issue. The team manager should force the subordinatesââ¬â¢ immediate compliance with management decisions, immediately and whole-heartedly. The manager must implement a win-win solution to resolve the current problem solving endeavor. Furthermore, step three of the same technical beliefs issue centers on the team manager compromising with the disgruntled subordinates. The in compromising, both management and subordinates will meet halfway. The meeting halfway step means giving up some of the partiesââ¬â¢ original demands or requests. Reducing disgruntlement increases project team output. Fifth, the project team, through its leader or manager, must resolve administrative policies and process issue. The management should resolve new policies or current poli cies to improve the entitiesââ¬â¢ overall financial performance. Project team management explains the many benefits of implementing the new company policy and process. The same project team management should reduce resistance to administrative policies and processes by having a brainstorming session. All individuals are given free reign to give their comments, suggestions, disillusionment, and other inputs as a basis for problem solving issues. Sixth, the project team, through its leader or manager, must resolve the project cost issue. The team manager will get quotes from different suppliers. The project team managers will decide to buy the companyââ¬â¢s requirements by electing the product or service offering the most reasonably cost. The project team manager must

Research Paper Example Individual beliefs and perceptions have a significant influence on their health. Research studies and works in this direction have proved that these beliefs affect individual behaviour in terms of their eating habits, medication routine or following their doctorsââ¬â¢ instructions. Such behavioural aspects also have a strong impact on the individualââ¬â¢s physiological system and its effects on the immune system or cardiovascular systems. Research evidence has also supported the belief that the patientââ¬â¢s health conditions are also influenced by the beliefs and perceptions of the health professionals. The health professionalsââ¬â¢ belief impacts the nature of treatment adopted and the way it impacts the patientââ¬â¢s own perception on his health condition and subsequent health behaviour (Broome and Llewelyn, 1995). The theoretical approaches and research findings over the decades have sought to explain the impact of such variables on individual health behaviour and the extent to which it predicts health outcomes. Different models have sought to explain health related behaviours and among these models the locus of control has been the focus of much research. The locus of control refers to ââ¬Å"the degree to which individuals perceive events in their lives as being a consequence of their own actions, and thereby controllable (internal control), or as being unrelated to their own behaviour, and therefore beyond personal control (external control)â⬠(Bahar, 1988, p45). The work on health locus of control (HLOC) has been inspired by Rotter who conceptualized the measurement scale to evaluate individual behaviour or expectancy in different dimensions. These dimensions include internality, powerful others and chance (Broome and Llewelyn, 1995). The internal HLOC relates to the individual belief that their health outcomes is attached to their health behaviour and hence it can be controlled, powerful others HLOC indicates that individual health is dependent on the behaviour of

Management of Technology3 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Management of Technology3 - Essay Example It is worth noting that the two business processes get interlinked by IT. There are several BI systems that an organization can put in place. These include analyzing customersââ¬â¢ behavior, budgeting and financing as well as improving delivery and supply chain effectiveness. These BI systems can help an organization reduce the cost of production, improve performance and identify new markets within the economy. BI systems require an analysis that will best help the organization remain relevant in the market (Laudon & Laudon, 2013). They are, therefore, part of the plan of every organization that aims to excel in its field. An organization may offer an electronic feedback program to its customers as one of their electronic business programs. This program can help the organization identify the area that it ought to improve on in terms of its services (Laudon & Laudon, 2013). The program can also be used to rate the quality of the goods produced by the company. The organization can further use the electronic registration of goods bought by customers for those goods that require registration with the government upon buying. This can be used instead of buying goods and then going to register them somewhere
